Welcome to Ms. Phan’s math classes! Descriptions of classwork and homework policies are below. Parents feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns by phone at 504-484-4028 or by email at email@example.com. My planning periods are second and eigth period.
As your child enters the classroom, they will have a Do Now posted on the board to begin working on. The Do Now is typically a review of math skills. After the tardy bell rings, the students have an additional five to ten minutes to work on this activity. These activities are to be completed in the back of their folder, numbered and dated each day. Please check to make sure that your child is completing this activity and maintaining proper organization as required in this class.
All students will be creating and maintaining an interactive folder for mathematics class. All notes and coached examples will be recorded on the right hand side of the folder, and all independent work will be recorded on the left hand side of the folder. Students will keep a Table of Contents on the first few pages of the folder to keep track of all work given. These folders will be checked randomly for a participation grade. Students should make sure they have their notes written in their notebook along with any other classwork for that lesson.
At the end of class, students may be asked to write an exit slip explaining what he/she learned today. This exercise will be used as an informal assessment of the current lesson. This assignment is also designed to help students reflect on what they have learned as well as prepare them for constructed response questions that are given on Interval and state testing.
Homework is typically assigned daily in Math classes. Therefore, homework is checked the class period following the homework assignment. Homework must be completed with the work shown to get credit for the assignment. No late work is accepted.
*****ATTENTION PARENTS: As of now, I will post homework on the board in class and on this wiki for the school year.********
