STUDENTS MUST HAVE AN ORANGE FOLDER FOR HEALTH ASSIGNMENTS. IT MUST CONTAIN SLOTS AND 3 PRONGS WITH LOOSE LEAF PAPER ATTACHED.
Monday 9/12 – Introduction to Health. Students will discuss and learn the components of health: social, mental, physical and describe examples of each. They will also distinquish the difference between cardiovascular endurance and muscular strength exercises that physical education classes will perform every class period.
Monday 9/19 – Guest Speaker on suicide prevention.
Monday 9/26 – Students will discuss and perform worksheet placing various types of physical activity in proper categories of either muscular endurance, flexibility, and cardiovascular endurance.
Monday 10/3 – Health folder check. Discussion of worksheet performed last monday.
monday 10/17- Students discussed experiences of bullying and being bullied or witnessing bullying. Students will write in their health folders and describe their experience with bullying. Students will develop an anti-bullying slogan and design a billboard that promotes anti-bullying.
monday 10/24- Retake of yearbook photos in the gym during health classes.
monday jan 9th- food plate project, list of foods in each category, and health folder due. Food plate can be constructed with paper plate, plastic plate, construction paper plate, etc…. It will be graded on creativity, content information, and neatness of presentation.
monday Jan 23rd- Guest speaker from JPSO discussing internet safety(cyberbullying, personal safety, and stranger danger).
monday Jan 30 – Discussion of reading food labels. Contents on the labels and what they mean. Students must cut out 5 food labels and answer 10 questions pertaining to each label and attach the labels into their folders on pages 13-17. This is due on monday Feb 6th.
